We are a community project working with rangatahi considered at-risk and/or vulnerable.
Schools select students of years 7 and 8 (intermediate school aged) of Māori decent to participate. We provide nurturing mentorship using tools of praise and encouragement to build confidence while creating opportunities to learn new skills in a number of industries.
We are a mentoring programme that utilises building as a vehicle to bring great men and women together with rangatahi using tools of praise and encouragement to build confidence and self-esteem.
WHAT STUDENTS CAN GAIN FROM OUR PROGRAM:
Develop new building skills
Gain knowledge about trades and opportunities for their future
Improve self esteem
Make connections with mentors
PARTNERSHIPS
We are partnering with Taranaki schools who pick rangatahi that meet our kaupapa/criteria of at-risk and/or vulnerable.
The programmes are run at the school with a selection of elders and others providing guidance, praise and encouragement to our rangatahi. All mentors are police vetted and inducted into our programme.
